The Illinois Education Foundation (IEF) empowers low-income,

development opportunities including: a mentor and monthly development

The Illinois Latino Council on
Higher Education (ILACHE) is pleased to offer two $1000 scholarships to
Latino/a students in Illinois who exhibit outstanding commitment to learning,
community service, and leadership. ILACHE is an action oriented, independent
advocacy group for Latinos in higher education in the areas of access and
equity as it relates to employment, college admission, and legislation in the
State of Illinois.

The number of scholarships made through programs administered
by ISAC, as well as the individual dollar amount awarded, are subject to
sufficient annual appropriations by the Illinois General Assembly and the
Governor.

If you
are a teacher or an academically talented student pursuing a career in
special education as a public, private or parochial preschool, elementary or
secondary school teacher in Illinois, you may be eligible for the Illinois
Special Education Teacher Tuition Waiver Program. This program will exempt
you from paying tuition and mandatory fees at an eligible institution, for up
to four calendar years.

Youth Justice League – Scholarships for undocumented students

The Immigrant Youth Justice League (IYJL) is a
Chicago-based organization led by undocumented organizers working
towards full recognition of the rights and contributions of all
immigrants through education, leadership development, policy advocacy,
resource gathering, and mobilization.

The Josefina A. Ovalle Foundation for Education
is a Not-for-Profit Corporation committed to increasing Latino high school
and college graduation rates. The
scholarship directory is updated frequently and organized by selection
criteria.

The La
Casa Student Housing Scholarship provides funds to Illinois
students who (1) live at La Casa Student Housing; (2) have graduated
from an Illinois high school within the last 6 years; (3) attend degree
granting colleges or universities in Illinois; and (4) demonstrate financial
need. Students are not required to
submit grades or test scores when applying for a La Casa Student Housing Scholarship. All
residents of La Casa Student Housing are required to sign a La Casa Living-Learning Agreement.

LNESC and LULAC established the LNSF to help youth in
underserved communities make the dream of college enrollment a reality. LNSF
is a unique partnership between grassroots advocates and corporations to fund
educational opportunities for deserving youth across the U.S. Every dollar
raised by local LULAC Councils is matched by corporate partners secured by
LNESC to increase the amount given in both the council and corporation's
name. This model results in a true grassroots/corporate partnership for the
empowerment of the Latino community. Former recipients of LNSF
scholarships are now leaders in fields of business, science, government, and
education.

You may
be eligible to receive paid tuition, paid mandatory fees and a monthly
stipend of $950 through the Medical Student Scholarship Program. In order to
be considered, you must be enrolled at an approved allopathic or osteopathic
medical school in Illinois, and agree to work in an identified
physician-shortage area in Illinois for one year for each year of
assistance received through this program. You must also be an Illinois
resident, demonstrate financial need, and be committed to primary care. The
application deadline is May 15 for each upcoming academic year. This program
is administered by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Grant Program and the Illinois Veteran Grant

If: 1) you plan to teach at a nonprofit Illinois public,
private, or parochial preschool, elementary school, or secondary school, for
which the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has determined that no
less than 30 percent of the enrolled students are African American/Black,
Hispanic American, Asian American, or Native American; and 2) you are of
African American/Black, Hispanic American, Asian American or Native American
origin, then you may qualify for up to $5,000 per year as part of the
Minority Teachers of Illinois (MTI) Scholarship Program.
